TDA Research is a technology developer and incubator based in Golden, Colorado. The company develops advanced materials and new processes for the energy, medical, and defense and aerospace industries. They have developed specialty sorbents that capture and purify CO2 from various processes and flue gas streams. The company manufactures and supplies sorbents through its spin-off, SulfaTrap, LLC, for a range of gas-processing applications, and has also developed sorbents for removing oxygen (O2), sulfur oxides (SOx), and nitrogen oxides (NOx) from CO2-rich streams.
In collaboration with partner AZO Global (Houston, Texas), TDA Research has developed a new digital tool that supports early conceptual design and process configuration for CO2 conditioning technologies. The tool helps identify system designs that reduce oxygen, sulfur, and nitrogen oxide concentrations in captured CO2 streams so these streams meet transportation and storage CO2 quality specifications. This digital tool is designed to screen among available purification technologies and address potential asset integrity threats associated with elevated contaminant concentrations, including maintaining the desired concentration below 10 ppb-mol. The tool can also assess, evaluate, predict, and potentially monitor the asset integrity of carbon transportation system hardware and individual components such as booster equipment, pipelines, casing, and tubing when exposed to carbon dioxide with various impurities and operating conditions throughout an asset’s design life.
